One of the great joys of life is celebrating an anniversary. It gives people the chance to celebrate with loved-ones and friends. They can renew their commitment to their spouses. Planning an anniversary party is no small task though. Here are some tips for planning the perfect party:
1) Decide whether or not your party is causal or formal. This is one of the most important decisions because it is going to dictate the location, budget, food and just about every other aspect of the party. Talk to your significant other and decide who you want at your party. Is it going to be open to only close family? Is it for extended family and friends? Or, is it just for a few couples to enjoy?
2) Once you decide on the tone of the party, next decide on budget. What is the amount of money you are working with for this anniversary party? This is another aspect of the party that is going to dictate a lot of the outcome. Get a good idea ahead of time of how much in total you have to deal with for your party. Once you have a total, then it’s time to break it down to what amounts you want to portion for each portion of the party. Make some decisions on what is most important.
3) Decide on how many people you want to invite. Now that you have a budget, you can portion out how much of the budget will go to catering. Divide the catering cost by the number of people you want and make adjustments accordingly. For example, if your food budget is $400 and you have 30 people to invite, then you have $13.33 per plate for your guests. This will give you a good starting-point for looking for a caterer.
4) Location is next on the list. Take your total budget and decide how much you can afford for the location. Remember that the location is completely up to you and you can save a lot of money by compromising here. Having a formal get-together can happen at varying locations with the right decorations.
5) Decide if invitations are going to be purchased or if a casual announcement is enough. If you need invitations printed, then give enough time for a good printer to do the work. You also want to give your invited guests enough time to clear their schedules for attendance. If the event is casual, you may be able to bypass the invitations altogether. If you have just a few guests, or the gathering is casual you may be able to use phone calls in lieu of invitations.
6) Decorations are a concern also. The good news about decorations though is that they are normally easy to assemble yourself. A visit to a party store can provide many of the decorations you need to make your party complete.
Throwing an anniversary party can be a big task without the right planning. Break down the entire process step by step and remember that is can be tailored to meet your specific needs at any time. The true sentiment of the event is the anniversary and having family around. Everything else can be easily altered to match.
