Graduation time is fast approaching. What graduate doesn’t want to have a graduation party and invite all his or her friends? In some cases a graduation party may be the last time some of the kids get to see each. You want to plan the perfect party; Following are five easy steps to graduation party planning that can help you reach that goal.
Step #1 – Pick the right date for the party. You have to remember that many parents will be planning parties around the same time. In order to avoid picking a date that others have chosen, check with some of the parents. Find out what date their parties are. That way you can pick a date that will allow the majority of kids to attend.
Step #2 – Make sure the invitations go out early. Kids today probably prefer to text or e-mail their friends with the date and time. You can back that up by sending out invitations. Either way, make sure that the guests are informed as to the exact day and date. With so much going on kids might forget and you need to remind them.
Step #3 – Pick the right food for the party. Most teens don’t want to have a steak and lobster sit down graduation party. They want foods that they are used to eating, like pizza, burgers or even subs. If there is a local pizza joint that will deliver, that would be perfect for a pizza loving crowd. If your husband is the grill man at your house, then he might want to cook some burgers or even chicken wings for the hungry crowd. Finger food is the easy way to go.
Step #4 – Music or lack therefore, can make or break a graduation party. Find out what music the kids like most. Be sure to let them decide since they might like not your taste in classical or jazz! Whether you use a boom-box type player or you hire a DJ, music is a must since teens can’t seem to do much without music blaring in the background.
Step #5 – This is very important and you should pay close attention to the kids at the graduation party. Make sure there is no alcohol available for teenagers. Do not leave the party unattended and keep an eye on the kids from a distance. If someone appears to be drinking you need to take control of that situation as soon as possible. If a kid gets drunk at your home it would not be a good situation at all.
Graduation party planning takes a little time and effort but it is well worth it. You want to make sure the party you throw is as perfect as possible and that it will make lasting memories for the graduate and his or her friends.
