I know your Bar/ Bat Mitzvah is one of thee most important milestone in your child’s life. Some of you plan this moment two or even three years in advance. You want everything perfect, the perfect invitation, the perfect dress/suit/the perfect service, the perfect venue, the perfect food, the perfect decoration, perfect photographer, and the perfect entertainment.
But as we all know nothing in life is perfect. I see parents get caught up on minor details and they miss the big moments that are truly so important.
You have planned and spend quite a bit of money on this day entrusting professional vendors to take care of these details for you… Stop ..take a breath and really enjoy it. Let the professionals that you hired do there job. This is why you hired them in the first place and invested in them.
When it comes to planning and communication with your vendors try to send your questions and concerns through emails this way you have a dialogue and record with your vendors in writing. If you just call them on the phone the minute you hang up with them and get distracted with something else like your boss calling or your running out the door to get your kid to soccer practice now you cant even remember what your vendor told you. Don’t call your vendors every other day with a new question. Obviously, questions will pop up during the planning but remember emailing is great and keeps things on record.
Planning is the key…. Have your questions ready when you are meeting your vendors for the first time. Write down your expectations and what you want for this important milestone in your child’s life. Do this before you write the check and hire them. Read your contract Line by line before signing and if you don’t understand something ask them.. Don’t be the customer who calls a month before your event saying that you really didn’t understand the contract or you really didn’t read it.
This will only cause friction and stress that you don’t need on this day that you have planned for so long.
So remember this day is not only important to your child but also to you, your family and close friends. So don’t get your self-worked up just….. enjoy the ride and savor the moments.. it will be over in a blink of an eye….
